PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

TOPICS

We offer training on three different topics:

TOPIC 1: COMMUNITY BUILDING

Trains youth and school based staff to produce community building circles, educational teach-ins and cultural events aimed at establishing a restorative justice school culture.

This fellowship also trains participants in facilitating tier 1 conflict resolution mediations and interventions stemming from day-to-day interactions among peers and school staff in school such as misunderstandings, gossip, cell-phone misuse, grading policies.

TOPIC 2: CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Trains youth and school based staff as peer mediators in facilitating Tier 2, one-on-one, small group and whole class conflict resolution mediations and interventions stemming from systemic issues such as racism, homophobia, ableism, xenophobia, classism and more.

Participants learn the differences between conflict, harm and violence, as they work collaboratively with deans, teachers, counselor and families in the peacemaking process.

TOPIC 3: REINTEGRATION AND POLICY

Trains school based staff in designing, implementing and assessing school discipline policy that provides opportunities for all who commit harm to “make things right, regardless of who is right” (Winn, 2017) instead of relying on exclusionary/punitive discipline processes such as suspensions or detentions.

Participants learn to implement protocols that interrupt oppressive systemic structures like racism, xenophobia, antisemitism, islamophobia, and more; yearning to create schools that are healing, peaceful and just for all.

PRICING

  • 2 adult co-facilitators + 2-4 youth co-facilitators

    • 1 pre-planning hour-long remote meeting.

    • 2 hours of direct service facilitation for up to 25 community members.

    • Free use of all included materials, workbooks, lessons & slideshows for internal educational purposes.

  • 2 adult co-facilitator + 2-4 youth co-facilitators

    • 1 pre-planning & 1 debriefing hour-long remote meeting.

    • 3.5 hours of direct service facilitation for up to 25 community members.

    • Free use of all included materials, workbooks, lessons & slideshows for internal educational purposes.

  • 2 adult co-facilitator with 2-4 youth co-facilitators

    • 1 pre-planning & 1 debriefing hour-long remote meeting.

    • 6 hours of direct service facilitation for up to 25 community members.

    • Free use of all included materials, workbooks, lessons & slideshows for internal educational purposes.

  • 2-5 adult co-facilitator + 2-10 youth co-facilitators

    • Pricing is set depending on variables such as budget, scope of work, number of participants & individual needs.

    • 1 pre-planning hour-long remote meeting per workshop booked.
